Hey Look, It's Me!
6:00 am, prying frozen cat feces from Daisy's mouth was my first task of the day. I can not let this emotionally wrenching event leave devastated my pursuit to a healthy and balanced lifestyle. So with that I say, Good morning! 2:00 am, painfully aching and cognitively exhausted, my one year old golden's taste for kitty- crunchies will not kill my will to have a better outlook and emotional balance.

Why Wellness Wednesdays?
Each day we should be giving ourselves opportunities for joyful enrichment, time for reflection, processing, collecting our thoughts, organizing, and preparing our best foot forward for tomorrow. Dare to dream echoes through my head, bouncing amidst the scattered piles of to do lists and mental notes. Wellness Wednesday reminders for self-care and personal growth, are easily accessible, and may just be the thing we need during our work week.

What's the Wow of Wellness Wednesday?
Maybe it will bring us back to a better place, motivate us to try something new, or give us the push needed to make it through the rest of the week? Wellness Wednesday blogs will showcase a collection of posts, video blogs, cartoons, poetry, and other artwork. Mostly items put together as a form of creative expression. Wellness Wednesday is a therapy session for the soul and an opportunity to share with me in my own therapeutic process for healing and re-centering.

Health Management
Health promotion and the maintainability of our physical person is essential to achieving a balanced level of wellness. Annual opportunities for diagnosis and the prescribed treatment should be taken seriously. For me, it is far more expensive to carry insurance than it is to pay for my wellness appointments quarterly and medications monthly. When we are hurting, and fail to address our healthcare needs, we are also harming our mental state.

Chronic health conditions are increasing massively within the United States. Diabetes, Hypertension, and Hypercholesterolemia, are diagnosed more now than ever before.  Chronic health conditions are contributing to the leading causes of death amongst us citizens. Chronic health conditions may be prevented despite genetic pre-dispositions and other health problems, that may create barriers towards prevention efforts.  Diet, exercise, medications, all of the things that I struggle with, are the way to best manage these health risks. Are there other ways? Wellness Wednesdays create opportunities for us to look at healthfully unique information to assist us in the prevention of these chronic health conditions.

Nutrition
To eat healthy is a dream. The cost of food, the time to prepare meals, and not having a kitchen for two and half years, have been huge barriers to my success to getting on a healthy meal track. In addiction to those barriers is the fact that I have trauma induced anorexia. For years, each time a trauma would occur, I would lose my will to eat and ignore the hunger pains. This is a significant example of how mental wellness treatment and maintenance are necessary to maintain total health.
It's difficult to be proud of weightless that was the result of a horrible year of social traumas. I'm using this blog as a therapeutic means to explore how to address this disorder and find the best practices for maintaining my new weight.

Mental Wellness
Traumas were a huge part of my development. First beginning with the loss of my older brother, followed by several more exposures to death, separation from my parents, etc. Identifying my feelings toward the same sex at a very young age, and being aware enough to know that it was 'bad', hugely effected my development.

Spending the majority of my time hiding who I was, feeling anxiety and fear constantly, I hid and ran from people I loved. I genuinely feared losing my parents over something I couldn't control and didn't know well enough that they wouldn't just ditch me. All of this emotion to process was before I was even a double digit age. Instead of focusing on my education, sports, family, or personal growth in general, I was stunted by the secrecy of being gay. I would continue to hide this from my family until I was twenty-one years old and moved across the country to Seattle.

Relaxation & Stress Reduction
The bench in my yard, made from two trees that had to be cut down, is my happy place. Surrounded by gorgeous landscape, the dog prancing (probably with a kitty crunchy in her mouth), and a full bodied coffee, make me a happy man. Let's say a happier man. This time of year puts a damper on that piece of personal nirvana.

What else can I do? Suggestions anybody? Let's use Wellness Wednesdays to explore the products, therapies, and other means of living happy and healthy. One example of a Wellness Wednesday topic may be information about using essential oils as a form of treatment.

The combination of lavender, lemon, and peppermint create a relaxing, invigorating, and soothing blend of oils called an Allergy Bomb. The Allergy Bomb is said to be a natural antihistamine and I think that it works great. The combination was amazing when applied to my shoulders and the nape of my neck. Frequency of use and the guidelines for the application, consumption, and/or vaporizing are oil specific and usually listed on he bottle. Information about other great products can be found at my two favorite oil brand websites, doterra.com and youngliving.com.

Time Management
My anxiety and depression have been through the roof. Most of this is attributed to time management and the crazy amount of work that is on my plate. An injury in the beginning of the semester put me at a disadvantage with my homework, house keeping, and at my job.

My brain is scrambled with thoughts that are driven by anxiety. I struggle to maintain all of these obligations living in a home that has been under renovations for over two years. Our living space has been cut down hugely and managing the mess has not gone easily.
